CarbonLite film solutions are recyclable packaging solutions made from PP (polypropylene) or PE (polyethylene). The range includes mono-material films developed specifically for flow pack, doypack, and spouted pouch applications. CarbonLite PurePP and CarbonLite PurePE are among the solutions available under the brand.
CarbonLite film solutions combine excellent recyclability – due to their mono-material structure – with high material efficiency thanks to reduced film thicknesses and optimal processability on modern packaging machines. Their customizable barrier properties, high level of product safety and protection, and suitability for sustainable packaging concepts make them an attractive option for companies looking to optimize their packaging designs.
A mono-material film or solution consists predominantly of a single type of plastic, such as PP or PE. Compared with multilayer composites, these packaging structures are easier to recycle and can therefore achieve a high level of recyclability. Depending on the application, CarbonLite film solutions are based on either CarbonLite PurePP or CarbonLite PurePE.
CarbonLite film solutions are suitable for a wide range of food applications, including cheese products (grated cheese, blocks of cheese, mozzarella), fresh pasta and convenience foods (Schupfnudeln [potato noodles], Spätzle [egg noodles], tortellini), coffee, baked goods, meat and sausage products (ground meat, air-dried sausages), and liquid and paste-like products (fruit purée for pasteurization and hotfilling, drinkable yogurt for cold filling).
CarbonLite film solutions can be customized with product-specific barrier properties. Depending on the requirements of the respective food products, different levels of protection can be incorporated to help preserve freshness, aroma, and quality. The films also offer a range of product-protection and convenience features. They are available as flow pack films with antifog properties and for MAP applications, as doypack films with MAP functionality, and as spouted pouch films for thermal processing applications. The material is also suitable for hydrogen peroxide treatment.
