50 high-caliber speakers, 30 exhibitors, and 250 delegates will meet up in Geneva from June 5 to 6. In 44 informative sessions at the Pharma Sustainability Days, and also during networking, one topic will dominate the conversation: sustainability. This is because environmental and climate protection, the circular economy, and responsible use of valuable resources are issues that have long concerned the pharmaceutical industry. SÜDPACK Medica is also making a powerful statement – und supporting the event as a Gold Sponsor.

Cross-company cooperation is required to drive the transformation in the pharma industry away from conventional blister packaging towards more sustainable mono packaging. In the presentation “Value Chain Collaborations in Pharma with PP Mono Materials for Blister Solutions”, network partners will present their views from the perspectives of raw materials producers, machine manufacturers, and consumers.  This event will take place from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on the first day, June 5, in Room 2. The background: “There is an increasing focus in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry on sustainable concepts for reducing packaging waste – and on creating a circular economy. This can only succeed with strong collaboration along the entire value chain.”

Jürgen Bodenmüller, Director of Business Development, will present a groundbreaking product development from SÜDPACK Medica at 10.40 a.m. under the title “Form-Seal-Protect-Comply: PharmaGuard®, the recycle ready solution for OSD (Oral Solid Dosage)”. The packaging concept for solid products has already won various awards. It is based on the polymer polypropylene (PP) and is therefore classed as a recyclable mono-solution. Stand-out features are excellent transparency, stable thermoforming and shrinking behavior, and a wide sealing range. The solution can also be easily processed on existing packaging machines.

The two SÜDPACK representatives are clear that the Pharma Sustainability Days in the Congress Center Palexpo will also offer ideal opportunities for networking: “Participants want to exchange ideas and gain as much information as possible. We’re looking forward to presenting our sustainable product developments and our expertise as one of Europe’s leading suppliers of sterile packaging solutions.”

Strong supplier with high quality standards

To meet the increased demand for films and pouch-making material that can be used at various points in the value chain in the pharmaceutical industry, SÜDPACK Medica has in recent years increasingly invested in flow pack and 3-side-seal pouch machines. Currently, at its French location in Coulmer, the company is doubling its clean room production area under ISO 7 conditions. According to Thomas Freis, Managing Director of SÜDPACK Medica: “We see enormous market potential, especially for transport and process packaging solutions used to transport products between clean rooms or to the point of use. The glass bottles, ampoules or syringes required for administering liquid parenterals such as infusions must be completely sterile before filling.”
