A milestone in the recyclability of plastics
On 2 February 2021, a truck filled with crude oil, which was recovered by chemically recycling reusable materials from SÜDPACK, left the RECENSO pilot plant in Ennigerloh near Münster. The goal of the strategic collaboration is to take reusable materials that cannot currently be mechanically recycled and recycle them on an industrial scale using the CARBOLIQ process to recover raw materials and consequently close further loops in the packaging industry.
SÜDPACK acquires LPF
On 1 February 2021, SÜDPACK will acquire LPF Flexible Packaging B.V. (“LPF”) from the Clondalkin Group. The company, located in Grootegast, the Netherlands, is a leading manufacturer of high barrier films for sensitive products. LPF was founded in 1907 and has long-standing experience in the development and production of packaging materials. For SÜDPACK, the acquisition is a further key element in its long-term growth strategy.
Sustainability Report by SÜDPACK
For the third time now, SÜDPACK has voluntarily published an extensive sustainability report. The current publication transparently communicates the progress made in 2018 and 2019 in the fields of environment, economy and social responsibility. Some of the most notable focal points include the roadmap for sustainable film packaging from SÜDPACK as well as the implementation of reusable material loops within the company itself.
Chemical Recycling - Dialog Forum
On October 13, BASF organized a virtual dialogue forum to discuss in particular the environmental aspects of chemical recycling. It featured various experts as well as BASF's project partners, who were available to answer questions in a subsequent discussion round.

When producing packaging for medical applications, safety, hygiene and a high sterile environment are given absolute priority. To ensure this, we have further developed our high Südpack standards. So as Südpack Medica, we are producing coextruded film according to the specific requirements of our customers, whilst complying with state-of-the-art safety standards. We source special medical papers and other plastics from selected, closely associated partners.
