Less is more – that’s true at least for the careful use of materials and the consumption of resources. Material that you avoid using from the very beginning does not later have to be subjected to a complex recycling process.
“Material reduction” is therefore one of four action areas in SÜDPACK’s “roadmap for sustainable film packaging.” The aim is to optimize existing film solutions in regard to material consumption through systematic further development and downgauging. The films become thinner without compromising quality and safety.
The latest example of this is the Safe Peel Clear NT: the crystal-clear top web securely seals its contents, while the integrated EVOH high barrier ensures optimum shelf life of fresh products. Thanks to systematic further development, it is now also one of the particularly sustainable films in the SÜDPACK portfolio, with some 30 percent less plastic granules being required for its manufacture compared to conventional self-service packaging, making it a solution that is literally lean.
