The related measures are combined in a wide-ranging project focused primarily on reducing our CO2e emis- sions in line with the SBTi near-term targets. The proj- ect is led by a strong cross-functional team made up of representatives from Sustainability Management, Prod- uct Management, Development, Compounds, Finishing, Energy Management, Environmental Management, and Purchasing. Our targets under the Net Zero ambition are aligned with the SBTi near-term targets for Scope 1 and 2 and Scope 3.1, which were validated in April 2024. Accord- ingly, we aim to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2030. We also met our an- nual target for 2025. Overall, our analyses show that production volumes increased slightly in 2025, resulting in a corresponding increase in emissions. In particular, the higher volume of purchased goods and services led to an increase in emissions from our largest source of emissions. The as- sociated increase in waste volumes also had a negative impact on our CCF. In addition, significant investment – including in the ex- pansion of the Erolzheim and Coulmer plants – resulted in an above-average increase in emissions in the Capital Goods category. At the same time, electricity-related emissions de- creased slightly, as the Coulmer site has been purchas- ing green electricity backed by guarantees of origin since the beginning of 2025. Transport emissions also fell as a result of optimization measures, despite higher purchasing and sales volumes. Our progress in the area of products is also worth highlighting: The expansion of our portfolio of sustain- able packaging solutions is well underway, even though demand for recyclable material structures has not yet picked up as expected for a variety of reasons. In prepa- ration for the PPWR requirements that will apply from 2030, we are also stepping up our work on PCR, which is currently used primarily in PET films and PET granu- lates. Both measures improve the PCF of the products we manufacture. The benefits of materials with a lower CO2e footprint are also reflected in our CCF, particularly in categories 3.1, Purchased Goods and Services, and 3.12, End-of-Life Treatment of Sold Products. In pack- age printing, we have also succeeded in convincing more customers to adopt our sustainable SPQ printing tech- nology, enabling further CO2e reductions in both flexo and rotogravure printing. SBTi SÜDPACK is firmly committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement and therefore joined the SBTi in 2022. More than 11,000 companies worldwide have already joined the initiative, with the aim of helping to limit global warm- ing to 1.5°C through effective corporate climate action. SÜDPACK’s near-term SBTs, validated in April 2024, tar- get a 76% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions between 2021 and 2030. As of 2025, our progress to- ward this target stands at 96%, leaving us just short of reaching it. These emissions are directly linked to our own oper- ations and energy requirements. However, by far the largest share of our total emissions – 96.5% – falls within Scope 3. Emissions from Purchased Goods and Services and End-of-Life Treatment of Sold Products alone ac- count for 85% of our Scope 3 emissions. For indirect emissions, the near-term target is a 25% reduction in the Purchased Goods and Services category. To date, we have achieved 64% of our 2030 target in this category.
